Born Kayla Hart, the artist professionally known as Alencia (pronounced uh-lynn-see-uh) carries a name passed down through generations. Originally from Houston, TX, she has deep family ties to the U.S. Virgin Islands. Her musical journey began in 2015 when she started purchasing beats online, and nearly a decade later, she has carved out a unique space in the industry.
In 2023, Alencia’s songwriting talents gained recognition when she was accepted into the prestigious NYU Songwriting Program. She went on to become a quarter-finalist in the Songwriters Guild of America Competition (Pop Genre) and a finalist in the Song of the Year Songwriting Contest (Hip-Hop Genre). Additionally, she has received honorable mentions in multiple international competitions spanning pop, dance, R&B, and hip-hop.
