The single opens with a single guitar riff that feels instantly classic, then swings into a warm, jangly alternative sound reminiscent of Velvet Underground‘s rolling 60s and 70s guitar tones. A deep vocal enters, chilled yet powerful and slightly unhinged in the most original way, with a subtle nod to Lou Reed. The track stands strongly on its own, well-written with a pop sensibility blended with a raw, free-spirited hippy energy and a modern new-era vibe. It is serious yet deeply melodic and irresistible, driven by jangly guitars, subtle distant brass and string textures, and a human, organic band feel that sparks a sense of freedom in the listener.

Roeshdien Jaz lands on Hollywood’s A-List Playlist with ‘Fleeting Romance’.

Celebrating 15 years since his breakout hit ‘Feel for Life’, Roeshdien Jaz known in the industry as Mr Jaz, is back with his latest radio-ready anthem, ‘Fleeting Romance’. Teaming up once again with renowned producer Ebrahim Mallum (Mr Mallum Productions), RJ delivers a vibrant fusion of vintage Nu-Disco, Funk, House, and Electronic Dance Music, wrapped in his signature soulful vocals.

His love for music and performance dates back to his first stage appearance at just 10 years old in the theatre production Bugsy Malone alongside notable South African artists Jody Abrahams and Emo Adams. Over the years, he has become known for his unique ability to blend multiple genres, seamlessly incorporating Pop, R&B, and electronic elements into his sound.

Mallum has worked with a host of South Africa’s biggest names, including Loyiso Bala (theme song for the movie Khumba), Danny K, Gang of Instrumentals, Craig Lucas, Jimmy Nevis, Lloyd Cele, Zolani, Paxton Fielies, RJ Benjamin, Jarrad Ricketts, and Chad Saaiman. His productions have been recognized with Metro FM and SAMA award nominations, chart-topping success, and have featured in advertisements, TV events, and even video game soundtracks.

With ‘Fleeting Romance’, RJ and Mallum have crafted a contemporary yet nostalgic hit that encapsulates the excitement, intensity, and impermanence of passionate love. “I am inspired by everyday people experiencing love, heartbreak, and everything in between. I love writing about people and their relatable experiences. I studied film and acting, with a major in live performance, so writing for me is a way to creatively tell stories from my own perspective, but mostly it’s about the experiences of those around me. I love being able to express the feelings and emotions that people are too afraid to share or speak about, yet need or want to hear.”

South African R&B and pop singer Carmelita was recently featured in Stereo Stickman, Electrowow and is currently riding high on the playlists at The Digital Voice of Africa, Bafana FM.com, Londonfm.digital and Pop Shop Radio.
