The History of Kirz

Kirz has steadily built a reputation as a versatile artist whose talents, sound, and lyrics bridge the worlds of Afro-pop, Reggae, and Dancehall. With his soulful voice and distinctive delivery, he fuses modern Afrobeat with rich African influences, creating music that reflects both his aspirations and lived experiences.

Born Macdonald Chidozie Okeke into a family of eight, Kirz spent his early years in Imo State, Nigeria, before his family relocated to Lagos in search of greater opportunities. The move exposed him to the energy, resilience, and diversity of city life, instilling in him the humility and drive that would shape his musical journey. Surrounded by a variety of sounds, from movie soundtracks to different genres of music, Kirz honed his craft as a songwriter, backup vocalist, and recording engineer while working in several studios.

His career breakthrough came in 2017 when he won the Docdeff Beat Killer Contest, a milestone that opened doors to performing at concerts and festivals across Lagos. Despite the challenges of one of the world’s most competitive cities, he remained focused on his goal of becoming an internationally recognized Afro/Dancehall artist.

Kirz began collaborating with producers and artists from Jamaica, Haiti, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Grenada, and the United States. His first major single, Bad Condition, gained traction and built anticipation for future projects. In 2018, he followed with Pray for Me and Far Away, songs that resonated with fans and expanded his global reach.

The year 2019 saw the release of Freedom, produced by Jahboot, known for his work with dancehall icon Popcaan, as well as Party Boy, produced by Blacka Kartel, a producer closely associated with Vybez Kartel. Kirz also created a Dancehall version of Beyoncé’s Brown Skin Girl, further showcasing his adaptability and cross-genre appeal.

More recently, his single Gold Digger, released under Manatee Records, has marked another turning point. Manatee Records, established in the early 1990s with offices in Chicago, Kingston, and London, has been instrumental in launching new talent. With a presence spanning Jamaica, the United States, Belize, London, Paris, and across Africa, the label continues to support Kirz as he pushes his music to international audiences.

Currently, Kirz is preparing an upcoming EP dedicated to his fans while continuing to release projects that connect West Africa with listeners around the world. His songs carry the energy of Lagos, the soul of African music, and the rhythm of global influences, making him an artist determined to set records and leave a lasting legacy.

Hailing from the United States, Madi Simmons is known to have entered the performing scene at the age of 16. He started out playing the drums, songwriting and singing. Throughout his life Madi’s key musical influences have been Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye, John Bonham, Bob Marley and Peter Tosh, and that’s just to name a few……honestly, there are so many other influences, you will actually hear them in his voice.
Madi has got a wide musical range and has the ability to send your mind to a nostalgic place……with vibes that remind us of Black Uhuru and a voice that combines Gregory Issac, Peter Tosh and Dennis Brown into one, Madi Simmons is still pushing out his sweet reggae music.

Mainly known for playing drums and having a strong vocal delivery, Madi learned over the years to perfect that one drop among other styles, though as you will hear, his preference is to use his voice. He has toured quite a bit in the last 20 years, performing on stages from the Pacific Northwest, California, Hawaii, and from the Midwest to the West Coast. Madi has appeared in major events such as Cougar Mountain fest, Benbow Summer Art fair, Unity fest, North Country fair, and even Reggae On The River as an Emcee and performer.

Now he is sparking interest in Europe and other parts of the world – Madi was also voted best indie artist on two different showcases.

He produces most of his own music and writes, and performs songs in both English and Spanish in various Latin, EDM, Pop tracks infused with R&B and Hip-hop blended styles. He is a talented Latin Dancer and a trained Mixed Martial Artist who specializes in Brazilian Ju-Jitsu and Muay Thai Kick Boxing. He is a U.S. Army Veteran and former Intelligence Specialist.

Draaco Aventura is an emerging social media influencer with several channels and web series in development. He is also an accomplished actor having stared in several Feature Films, BET TV Series “Criminals at Work” and Award-Winning Netflix TV Show Giant “House of Cards”. He enjoys comedic acting and reactions which he produces on his social media channels.

Draaco Aventura is Afro-Latino, and was born in Valdosta Georgia where he started his music/entertainment career doing show choir and theater.
He led a men’s quartet that competed in the regional literary competition for arts. He is a Tenor 1, and enjoys singing Bachata and R&B. His favorite dance styles are Salsa, Merengue, and Bachata.

Just Shutup and Dance is an electronic pop song with merengue and reggaeton rhythms . It is fast paced and very energetic.
